My name is John Grant Jardine, and I’m a Vietnam Veteran. My father, John Robert Jardine, served in WWII as a gunner’s mate on a tin can. Uncle Bill was in the Army during WW2. My dad didn’t elaborate a lot on his time in the Navy. I do know that he was in some major battles and shot it out with a Kamakize pilot one morning. Before I joined the Navy I worked as a ranch hand for various…..

STILL STRUGGLING TWENTY YEARS AFTER DESERT STORM

jennysala Uncategorized 0 0

One night after falling asleep Steve Kraft dreamt that balloon people armed with AK-47s were shooting at him. He began to shoot back, and pretty soon everything turned real, with blood and guts everywhere. Steven Kraft, forty-six, lives in the Crawford House shelter for the homeless in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He served in the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Storm, and he believes that Americans should have known more about the Arabic culture before going in. U.S. forces were trying…..

HIS GREATEST FEAR WAS THE CONSTANT WORRY OF ENEMY SUBMARINES OR HITTING MINES

jennysala Uncategorized 0 0

I have always had a strong interest in world war two growing up and never had the chance to sit down and speak with someone who fought in the war. My great uncle died somewhere near Saarlautern, Germany with the 95th division. I met Mr. Banning at a nursing home around a month ago and have became close with him. I try to take care of him when I can, as his family is not able to visit him much……

PEOPLE CAN’T IGNORE WHAT IS GOING ON, WHEN IT HAS A FACE AND A STORY

jennysala Uncategorized 0 0

I am a Vietnam era veteran but literally stood no chance of going over to Vietnam. I was in the Air Force during the early 70’s for a four year hitch as a B52 ground crew member and stationed at the now defunct Wurtsmith AFB in Michigan and later at Barksdale AFB Louisiana. A large amount of my time was served at the alert facility where B52’s and KC 135’s were war ready and fully uploaded with nukes. I enlisted…..
