“My father, A.D. Chambers, served in the US Army from 1949-1952.
He was an Infantryman and was with the 2nd Infantry Division, 1/38th Infantry Regiment.

He saw Combat in Korea in 50-51 and earned his Combat Infantry Badge. After this service, Dad entered the US Air Force and served a total of 20 years as an Aircraft Mechanic. He was also in Viet Nam in 1965-1966 and retired as a Tech Sgt.

My son, Michael Scott Chambers Jr., joined the Army in 2010. He is Infantry and went to BCT and Infantry School at Ft Benning Ga, Sand Hill. As he was inducted into the Infantry at his Turning Blue Ceremony, my Father got to place the Blue Cord of the Infantry on his shoulder. It was an awesome sight, from the old Infantry to the New. My son’s first duty assignment was with the 25th Infantry Division, 1/27th Infantry regiment, Schofield Barracks Hawaii. He served with them in Iraq in 2010/11. He was then assigned to the 2nd Cav in Vilseck Germany. He served with them in Afghanistan in 2012/13. He is an E-5, Sgt. and will be moving to Ft Hood, Texas in a couple of months to the 1st Cav. Division.

I am so proud of my father and son’s service, and sorry that I did not serve as well. They are pictured here together. Although I did not Serve in the Military, I have served the Public as a Civilian Paramedic for the past 23 years. Dad rarely talked about his service in Korea and Viet Nam. But he always asked me about my day and shifts as a Paramedic. He listened with great interest, as I told him what I went through each day. Dad and I are pictured together standing in front of the Vietnam Wall.

I love all veterans both in war and peace time. I’m proud to be the Son of a Viet Nam Vet who was my life, my hero and my mentor. Love your Vet while they are here. Love them forever. Thank God that such Men and Women exist. Thank you all for your service and sacrifice.”
~ Michael Chambers, Proud father and son of America’s Veterans

We are deeply grateful to Michael for sharing his family story and for his patronage and service to people as a paramedic. Our paramedics give and save lives each and every day as first responders and fill an integral role in our society. Truly, this is a family that gives above and beyond through military and civilian service to our country.

God Bless all who serve and keep us safe both domestically and abroad.
