My dad is Norman Jenson.

He is now 94 years old and was a WWII B24 Bomber Pilot. Dad was born on 26 July, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York. As a youth, he sang with the All Saints Cathedral’s Boy Choir and two other church choirs each week for many years. He graduated from Albany High School in 1940 and went to work at Keeshin Motor Express & Seaboard Freight Lines in Albany, New York.

In August of 1942, at the age of 21, Norman enlisted in the Army-Air Corps, and was followed by two younger brothers. He completed basic training at Childress Army Air Field in Childress, Texas, and advanced training at Ft. Dix, Army Air Base, New Jersey. He was then assigned to the 445th Bomb Group, 702nd Squadron in Tibenham, England.

One of the Squadron commanders was Captain James “Jimmy” Stewart. He served as the deputy Lead Bombadier/navigator on a B-24 (Liberator) bomber, completing 35 combat missions. These missions included Hamburg, Hanover, Magdenburg, Kiel, Zossen, Dortmund, Berlin, Duneburg, Cologne and 26 other missions.
