I am proud to say I have been married to my Vietnam Combat Veteran for 45 years.
His name is Harry Lynn Thurman and he is my Veteran and my Hero! Harry served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 with the U.S. Army Corp 3. He also had the honor of serving as a military guard to President General Dwight Eisenhower.
As with every combat soldier returning home, he has many horrific stories but will not share. He won’t let me share the horror that any of those boys experienced there. On of the lighter side though, he had a pet spider monkey that slept in his helmet and would feed her fruit cocktail. She ate everything but would throw the cherries at him…
My heart aches for our boys and girls who served there. My husband suffers everyday and night. Due to Agent Orange he has heart trouble and a pacemaker/defibrillator. He also has severe PTSD. He has horrible nightmares most every night. But I am very lucky to have him and do not take any day for granted. God Bless every widow of war.
All soldiers are my Heroes.
~ Judy Thurman
