Here is my handsome daddy, Msgt Gunnery Sgt. Francis R. Lemerond.
Dad told me a bit from his war experience. He was in a bunker and his friend that he met during boot camp was following my daddy’s voice as he was yelling and guiding his friend towards him. As he was headed towards my daddy they threw a grenade. The grenade landed on his buddy and blew up. My daddy buried his head and all of a sudden something hit him. He looked at what it was. It was the leg of his buddy. I couldn’t take his pain away as the tears rolled down his cheeks.
He retired after 26 years as an E-9 in the Marines and passed 9-5-2015. He was my hero my best friend. Dad served in Korea and Vietnam. He made and loaded the bombs during the years between 1961 and 1975. I was unable to feel or take away his pain that he suffered from the war and the COPD caused by Agent Orange. If you were conceived during that time, you risked also getting the disease. I too got COPD.
I can now feel his pain.
