My son, Adam Michael Cline served in the U.S. Navy.
Adam always had a smile on his face. He could cheer anyone up. He loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and the SF 49ers. He was engaged to be married and family was very important to him. I took him out for his 21st birthday and it’s a memory I’ll never forget. He also loved gaming, movies and Larry the cable guy. He was a star athlete in high school and homecoming king.
He was training to go to the Middle East and on a day off ship, he and some buddies were exploring the city they were in. Like young sailors do, they were horsing around and diving from a low-lying bridge.
We don’t really know what happened, the coast guards had to rescue the other guys and my son was dead at the scene and they ruled it a drowning. He was a strong swimmer, but the current was bad that early evening. His date of death was July 22, 2007. I guess we really won’t ever know what happened.
My son is my favorite veteran and is forever in my heart.
