Four years ago I was on a patrol, patrolling through a village called Enezy.
Intel was vibe and good because people were moving back into the village and rebuilding. Well that day the kids were talking to us one minute and the next they had all gone!!! Then one of the guys shouted grenade!!! We were so lucky…. My reaction was slow then. There was fire being put down! I was disorientated. How were we still here? The ground was so wet that it drew the blast of the grenade in, therefore damping it down!!!
It wasn’t our day to die! Thank you to the Gurkha’s of 44A call sign for getting us back to PB1 that day with the support of 42B call sign.
They were the best battle buddies I could have asked for.
