My dad was in the European Theater during World War II, and my father-in-law was in the Navy during the Pearl Harbor attack on the USS Bagley.
I am not a veteran, but I support the Veterans. I am a widow since February 11, 2013. Mitch and I were married for 42 years and 7 months. He was my rock and accomplished so much in his 64 years. He never bragged.
Mitch could not go into the service during the Vietnam War. He went to the draft on June 8, 1968 and was classified 4F due to the effects of polio when he was 10 years old. He was the most patriotic man I ever knew. I feel drawn toward Vietnam Veterans, because it was the era that my husband, Mitch and his friends would have served. All three men are now in heaven.
Thank you to the Vietnam Veteran’s Facebook page and all of my Vietnam Veterans for letting a non-Veteran be part of your wonderful group of forgotten Heroes.
You are all so special.
