My daughter, Elizabeth De Jesus is currently serving in the Army at Ft. Riley with I Co. 366 Armory which is an attachment unit to the 101st Airborne.
Elizabeth was a top honors student of Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver, Colorado. She loves to sing and model and had several scholarships at the Denver State, but chose The Army for self training. I think a friend of hers had joined, and she somehow liked the idea. She was born in June 1995. I met her mother when she was just about 16 months old. I’m the only father she has ever known. Although, she has always wanted to be a singer, she may make a career of the Army.
After her decision to enlist, she did her own physical training such as running, sit ups and other exercises to prepare herself for the basic training. She excelled in basic training so much that she earned the right to be a squad leader. She is currently serving in Ft. Riley, Kansas and has been there for a little over a year. Her training has qualified Elizabeth for driving armored vehicles.
The mosaic group photo on center top and bottom is of boot camp, and on the right Ft. Riley with her shown top right the day before graduating basic training. Her squad leader is pictured with her in the bottom left and showing the stripe for her new designation of PVT. Second Class or PVT. 2, as she references it. Elizabeth is standing second in line up at boot camp.
We are very proud of her, and the award she has received, the AAM Award Army Achievement Medal.
