My Grandpa, Geronimo Puertas passed away March 2, 2016 at the age of 90.
He served in the US Navy during Pearl Harbor on the Aircraft carrier Intrepid. I never realized that he was a World War II Veteran until recently. He only mentioned that during wartime that they tried mixing their own cocktails. But Grandpa said, “No thanks, that stuff will kill you!” We all laughed. He was such a jokester.
We are so proud of him!

“Torpedo Juice was a common thing in the Navy and he was right. Several seamen got sick drinking it. Thank you for your service from a Vietnam Marine Corps war vet.”

Special thanks to Gina Hernandez for honoring her Grandpa’s service with Comes A Soldier’s Whisper where we are all connected.
