Our 101st Airborne paratrooper father came back from WWII with his copy of The Epic of the 101st Airborne, a beautiful pictorial biography of the United States 101st Airborne Division, compiled and arranged by the unit Public Relations Office in Auxerre, France 1945.

The book depicts the European battle campaigns of Normandy, Holland and the Battle of the Bulge, all of which the 101st Airborne participated. As a child, I remember looking through this book, my father’s wartime letters kept by our mother, his countless photographs and vaguely hearing stories of a war that seemed beyond my understanding or comprehension.

But I remember all the same. Little did I know that 50 plus years later, I would publish Dad’s wartime letters in Comes A Soldier’s Whisper keeping his memory and those of his comrades alive for generations to come. We must not forget and use whatever means necessary through books and all forums to educate our youth of today, lest they repeat history of the past. We look forward to introducing ourselves into schools with presentations intertwined with question and answer segments.
