The Loss Of Loved Ones During War

jennysala Uncategorized 0 0

Today we honor Gerald Martin for his service with the Army Air Corps. He was killed in action in Italy on August 16, 1944, just days after being notified of his wife’s miscarriage of their first child.

We wish to offer our eternal salute of gratitude to Gerald for his service and special thanks to his nephew, Kevin Michel, for providing this family picture in honor of his beloved Uncle Martin and Aunt Emma.

Please share your family photos of those who served, so we may feature and honor them on our Comes A Soldier’s Whisper page.

God Bless all who serve and keep us safe.

“The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not “get over” the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same nor would you want to.”
~ Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, Swiss psychiatrist and author
