Capt. Joe Geiger was born in Rochester, New York and served with the US Army with a deployment to Afghanistan in 2011.
His ancestors fought in the Amy all the way back to the Revolutionary War. Joe served in the U.S. Army with training in Field Artillery. He led soldiers, computed firing data, fired cannons; called in artillery and mortar fire and helicopter and air strikes while imbedded with the infantry during his deployment to Afghanistan in 2011. Joe got a glimpse of some of the most awful things human beings can do to one another. He is grateful for his experience and now has tremendous perspective on the world and hopes to help others working with local government to help veterans through advisory committees, the Legion and VFW.
Joe says that the WWII vets were the greatest generation, the Korean vets were forgotten and The Vietnam Vets had to suffer. He is thankful for what the Vietnam Vets have done to pave the way for future vets.
Today’s generation is all volunteers. Josh says they are not Heroes and that they are just trying to get ahead with a good job. But I say that each and every one of these men here today and those who serve today is a Hero.
Captain Joe Geiger and his lovely wife Mel had the distinct honor of meeting Major General Rappi and Mrs. Rappi at the Easter Seals NY annual fundraising gala and are proud to announce that he is running as candidate for New York State Senate in the 54th District.
