The annual Ms. Veteran America competition highlights more than the strength and courage of our nation’s military women, but also reminds us that these women are Mothers, Daughters, Sisters and Wives.

They also pay tribute to the women who have made the ultimate sacrifice during their military service. Some gave all. Proceeds from this event provides housing for homeless women Veterans and their children.

Today Comes A Soldier’s Whisper is proud to share Iraq Veteran Nichole Hill Alred’s story who is in the 2015 competition for Ms Veteran America:

“My name is Nichole Hill Alred, and I am an Iraq Veteran.

This photo is of me and my Army sisters in Iraq. This was right after the invasion of Iraq; after we reached Baghdad & moved North to Fallujah. We were still smiling, all four of us. We always did when we were together. The love between sisters-in-arms is like a love that is not explainable with any words.

Final Salute Inc provides homeless women Veterans with safe and suitable housing. The founder of Final Salute INC, CPT Jas Boothe, who found herself homeless & battling cancer. She not only had the courage and strength to get back on her feet, but also found the compassion and selfless service to help her sisters who are facing the same situation that she once did.

This is why I chose to get involved, and this is why I am competing for the 2015 Ms Veteran America. It will allow me to help my sisters on a much larger scale than what I am able to do on my own. Every $25.00 donation made to www.crowdrise.com/MVA2015NicholeH helps house one homeless Veteran. Final Salute has provided 8,000+ transitional housing for Women Veterans and have received Emergency Financial Assistance-via our S.A.F.E Program •100 Women Veterans have received employment transition support -Stand-Up •39 have received transitional housing – via our H.O.M.E Program.

The Vietnam war was before my time but the Veterans who served in this war are very dear to my heart! I always thank Veterans when I see them. These Veterans didn’t receive the welcome home they deserved. If you see a Vietnam Veteran, please, add to your “thank you” a “welcome home Soldier” and see the reaction on his face.

It’s NEVER too late to welcome them home!”

We are deeply grateful to Nichole, for sharing her personal story and vision to assist others in need. It is not unusual to see our military to serve as a civilian. They are the gift that keeps on giving…

Comes A Soldier’s Whisper remembering our history and soldiers one day at a time.

God Bless all who serve and keep us safe.
