THEY TREATED ME LIKE A BROTHER AFTER THAT

My name is Bill Snow (Benjamin William Snow) and I was stationed at Tuy Hoa AB from1968 to 1969.

The sole picture of myself is on the beach in Tuy Hoa on the South China Sea. Prior to this photo, I wrote, “I Love You” in the sand and had a picture taken of that for my Mom, Dad and sisters.

During that time I became really good friends with the Lee Van Nhac family. Mr. Nhac taught French at a local high school. His family owned the A Dong Photo Studio. These wonderful people were like family to me.

The school that Mr. Nhac taught French at was located in downtown Tuy Hoa, not far from the beach. I only went there once and it was on gift giving day. I presented a bunch of books on Asian culture and history. I was with AGE, Aerospace Ground Equipment. My experiences were different than most because I was never in combat. My most precious memory was the Nhac family and how I prevented Mrs. Nhac from being molested. I almost got killed preventing that from happening, and they treated me like a brother after that.

I have been searching for the Nhac family for over 40 years. The Nhacs are the two adults on the left in the group photo. The two on the right were friends from school. I went through the Canadian Red Cross thinking that since Lee was a high school French teacher that they could help me. But due to the fact that I wasn’t family, they could not help me out. I found a Phu Yen Face book page and through messaging sent these pictures, which were given to the Nhac relatives who are all from Tuy Hoa. The last picture is of my wife, Romelia and myself.

I finally got a mailing address for Lee in Canada and hope to connect with them soon.
