“This is my uncle Bill Krisl, who served with the Army 89th Service Squadron, 54th Service Group for 11 months in India and supervised a crew of mechanics working on bombers and fighter aircraft.

He worked on B-24s, B-25s, B-17s C-54s C-47s,P-38s and P-47s according to his “separation” record in late 1945.. The man shown in the other photograph leaning against a boat was among Uncle Bill’s photos with “Old Boy Shue” written on the bottom. I thought someone might recognize him as their relative.

When I was born in 1942, I had 6 uncles in the service but only referencing the ones with no family. I feel I that I should let the families of the men put whatever they want. I had two uncles (including this one) who had no children. The other one is from my dad’s side and had horrible “shell shock” (or PTSD? now.) I have his photo but no idea what his unit was so may not get it on. Mom told me many stories about young soldiers of WWII, some whom I personally knew back in the 40s and 50s. We toured cemeteries and saw graves of some of the men…

I think you are doing a wonderful thing with your book, and I mean to find it the next time I am at a large book store. I check this site every day.”
