I came across these three pictures of recently passed away “Jed” and me at the 501 Geronimo Ball.
He was a great guy, and every time another of my WWII buddies makes his last jump, I feel poorer and poorer. RIP and Geronimo, Brother “JED. ” Your family and I are not the only ones who remember you fondly. You have lots of friends who wish you well.
I’m sure we’ll all be together again some day and drink another beer out of a helmet.
The following is an excerpt from the book, NUTS!:
“On 22 December 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge, with the germans surrounding the Belgian town of Bastogne, a German messenger brought a message from his commander to Brigadier General Anthon McAuliffe, acting commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division, demanding his serenader. McAuliffe’s response was simply, “NUTS!”
