My Grandpa Wheller Foster Fawcett served in WW1 and WWII.
My handsome father, Sgt. David Louis Fawcett was a Gunney pilot and served in Army Air Corps on a B17.
I know that my dad talked about how he had to get 200 flying hours in. Dad’s five brothers served during WWII with 3 in Navy. His brother, Wayne, who is pictured here, shipped out same day and became a Chief petty officer. There were six brothers in all plus 3 sisters. None of the sisters served in the military. The youngest brother was too young to serve at that time.
They were from Biloxi, Mississippi. Dad is pictured here with his bomber jacket and formal dress between 1943-1944. The other picture shows him on furlough with an unknown girl while stationed in England. Uncle Charles who also served sent the picture home. They were both pilots who did bombing missions back and forth to Germany.
I gave my nephew all of Dad’s medals, after he passed away. I was just readinng some letters that Dad sent back home. My aunt, his sister kept them all these years. Over 50 of my family members have served in every branch and every war. Only 2 brothers of the five brothers are alive today, Uncle George and Uncle John.
My Uncle Ronald Eugene Fawcett being the youngest of six brothers served in the US Army in Nam and later got cancer from Agent Orange.
I’m so very proud of all our military. They are so close to our hearts.
