After the attack on Pearl Harbor, I enlisted in Little Rock, AR at the age of 21. My oldest brother served in WWI and my brother just older than me also served in WW II in the infantry. When I left for war in “42” my Dad said he was pleased to have had 3…..

I LOVE AND MISS YOU WITH MY NEXT BREATH

jennysala Uncategorized 0 0

It was 40 years ago that The Vietnam War had ended. My Momma told me about the day my dad’s chopper was leaving in 1969. She also said that Daddy was holding me in his lap and crying, as he watched the fall of Saigon on television in 1975. He didn’t talk of the war much. My Daddy is John Michael Connelly Sr. He was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama in March 1945 and passed away on October 8,…..

My dad’s name was Kenneth Landfair, Sr. He was a Sgt. Major in the USMC. His unit was the 3rd Pioneers while in Vietnam, which is now the 3rd Battalion Combat Engineers now. He served 3 tours in Vietnam, and from what my brother has determined, he was in the Quang Tri province. Dad retired in 1987. This is the face of a hero, my hero, my great love, my father, Dominick M. DeTommaso who served as a Tech Sgt. with Company B, 294th Combat Engineers from 1943 to 1945. U.S. POLITICIANS QUIT THE WAR AND DESERTED OUR SOUTH VIETNAM ALLIES

jennysala Uncategorized 0 0

My name is Evan Francis, and I am a Vietnam Veteran. My father served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, China-Burma Theater during WWII. My father spoke very little about his war-time experiences other than an occasional disparaging remark about Asian cuisine; apparently his way of commenting on the negative effects of war. One uncle, my father’s brother, served in the U.S. Army Artillery and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He never spoke of his war time experience…..

My name is Richard Brookins, and I am a WWII Veteran. My brother and cousins also served in WWII in various branches of the service, Army, Navy and the USAF. We were all super patriots and enlisted. Everyone was going and I wanted to get in it too, even though I had one bad left eye. I tried enlisting with the Navy, USAF and the Marines, but was declined and classified as LMS, limited military service. My right eye did…..

THE AGONY OF VICTORY

jennysala Uncategorized 0 0

By 1966, images like this one taken by Time-Life photographer Larry Burrows, of a soldier being led off the field by his comrades after a fierce firefight were common. The heavy toll on U.S, troops belied the magazine’s optimistic forecast on the outcome of the war. Burrows was born in London in 1926. He left school at 16 and took a job in Life magazine’s London bureau, where he printed photographs. Some accounts blame Burrows for melting photographer Robert Capa’s…..
