LOOKING FOR A TRACE

jennysala Uncategorized 0 0

My 101st Airborne paratrooper father served during WWII as a radio communicator with the 502nd PIR. He passed away in 1999. I miss him each and every day and know that he is proud that we are remembering all of our veterans that served this beautiful country by telling their individual stories. The following poem is in his memory: LOOKING FOR A TRACE Looking for a trace Of my father’s face So many men in uniform Who served the 101st…..

THE VIETNAM WAR WAS BEFORE MY TIME

jennysala Uncategorized 0 0

“The Vietnam war was before my time but the Veterans who served in this war are very dear to my heart! I always thank Veterans when I see them (even though I am an Iraq war Veteran myself). These Veterans didn’t receive the welcome home they deserved. If you see a Vietnam Veteran, please, add to your “thank you” a “welcome home Soldier” and see the reaction on his face. It’s NEVER too late to welcome them home!” ~Nichole Alred,…..

LOST AND FOUND – A PRICELESS DISCOVERY

jennysala Uncategorized 0 0

COMES A Soldier’s Whisper is proud to share Michelle Cahill’s journey and her reconnection with her WWII uncles: “In 1945, my father lost two brothers. In 2012, I found them. The Cahill brothers, Army fliers Tom and Jack, were shot down over Europe on bombing missions near the end of World War II. In our large family, as is common with such a loss, little was said about “the boys.” Though the few questions my generation asked were always answered,…..

“My name is Paul McNally, and I am a Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran. I served between March 1965 to March 1969 and did my tour in Nam from October 1966 to June 5, 1967. This photo is when I graduated from boot camp. In this group photo which was taken just before we left the Chu Lia area, I’m the little guy second from the left holding my walking stick. He was at Eagle’s Nest “just after” the 506th got there. He said there were “burning piles” of Nazi propaganda outside, and he managed to grab a few books (I still have them) as souvenirs. Flash forward 69 years later, my son, James Martin, visited…..

THEY ALL SERVED AND CAME HOME

jennysala Uncategorized 0 0

COMES A Soldier’s Whisper is proud to share Phyllis’ story: “I vividly recall when my brother and his classmates were loaded onto a bus from school to go and see if they were fit to be drafted for the Vietnam War. These were seniors and I prayed all day that my brother wouldn’t have to go. I turned out that his knees kept him from going. But 10 more boys were found to be fit for enlistment. They all served…..
