My first tour in Vietnam was with the 23rd INF Div in Chu Lai and then later with the 101st Airborne, 1/327 in Phu Bai. I went over in August 1970 and came home in March 1972. We had just pulled an ambush the night before. I remember it rained so hard and it was so dark. I was glad to see it get daylight. This was around My Lai too, close to where Lt. Calley had his trouble with…..

This is my brother, Daniel Alexander Hamilton shown on the left in this picture. His last name is different than mine because he has a different Father. He served bravely in the 1st Infantry division of the United States Army, for two tours. Over the course of two years, he saw many of his friend die. He killed people, as a soldier is trained to do, and couldn’t get over the spiritual and mental effects of that which he had…..
My brother and cousin served in Vietnam. They were spat on in the airport for their homecoming. My brother, Eddie Sikes went to Belleville High School in Michigan and served in combat as a Marine for one year in 1967 in DaNang, Vietnam. I have no photographs of him from service. He got jungle rot on his feet and contacted Agent Orange. When Eddie got home, approximately 4 years later, he and his wife were divorcing. Eddie was a mess…..

I am proud to say I have been married to my Vietnam Combat Veteran for 45 years. His name is Harry Lynn Thurman and he is my Veteran and my Hero! As with every combat soldier returning home, he has many horrific stories but will not share. He won’t let…..
My Grandpa, Geronimo Puertas passed away March 2, 2016 at the age of 90. He served in the US Navy during Pearl Harbor on the Aircraft carrier Intrepid. I never realized that he was a World War II Veteran until recently. He only mentioned that during wartime that they tried mixing their own cocktails. But Grandpa said, “No thanks, that stuff will kill you!” We all laughed. He was such a jokester. We are so proud of him! ~ Gina…..
My dad was the first of three generations to serve in the Air Force. Dad got a choice between Korea & Germany. He was lucky THAT way. He was prior US Navy, yeoman on a sub tender in Panama, 1946 to 1948. He was later in Tuy Hoa Airbase in Vietnam from 68 to 69 with the Civil Engineer Squadron. He joined the Navy at 17 and strong-armed my grandpa into signing the papers! The group picture shows my father…..
